Sport Specific Technique

I got into coaching for two reasons. One, I like to teach.  Two, I like to learn.  The process of learning proper sport specific technique is a never ending learning process.  No one can know it all, and beware of any coach who claims they do.  What you can do is put your trust in someone who takes the time to teach you sport specific technique.  We all know swimming has significant technial challenges.  But running and cycling are not just about legs and lungs.  Proper pedaling technique, stride rate, foot strike, pedaling posture, are just a few of many areas necessary to be a more efficient athlete.  Possibly the biggest benefit to proper sport specific technique is injury resistance.   So ask yourself-does it take  you 25 strokes to swim from one end of the pool to the other?  Do you strike on your heel when running? Do you have massive dead spots when trying to do an isolated leg drill? Do you have reccuring injuries?
